365 Days of Junk - Day 84

Vintage Wood & Black Vinyl Chairs

I think these chairs were a great find, at around $15 each! It can be hard to find multiple matching chairs, especially older ones. These are in great shape, also.

I  think they may be old office chairs, but I'm not sure. It's difficult to tell in the picture, but they are very square. They look cube shaped from the side. I think they could be great in a hip living room!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 83

Vintage Red Upholstered Chair

Before

After

I finally have before & after photos!!!!

I found this chair in a thrift store, and kind of overlooked it at first. It had this horrible orange fabric, that was really coarse in texture, on it. And... The upholstery job was sort of lopsided. On second glance, I could see that the original red fabric was still underneath. So... I bought it (of course!). Should I mention how disgusting it was to remove the top fabric??????

365 Days of Junk - Day 82

Folding Step Stool Chair

This wooden chair folds over and becomes a chair. I have seen people call chairs similar to this one, library chairs, but I'm not sure if that is the correct name. I think it would be great for a child's room. However, I'm not sure that I could trust my child with it. She would be using it to do all sorts of things! She would probably climb to the top and jump off, possibly onto her bed.

365 Days of Junk - Day 81

Vintage Guildcraft Floral Tin

This is a pretty vintage tin. it is marked Guildcraft, New York. I just see pretty, when I look at it. I think it is something that a lady would have used as a sewing or craft box.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 80

Lacoste Backpack

OK... I haven't used this backpack, yet, but I really do like it. A LOT. It's a great green color with the Lacoste alligator on the front! It reminds me of when we were kids, and my brother wore the little Lacoste shirts with the alligators. You know, he would wear them with his little khaki pants. My dad used to tell him that he couldn't wear Lacoste and Polo together because the alligator would eat the horse. (It's strange what we remember from our childhood!)

Anyway, enough from memory lane... I found the backpack in a Goodwill Store and I think I paid between 5 & 6 dollars for it. Totally worth it, don't you think?

365 Days Of Junk - Day 79

Carpet/Rug Beater

I think this things is made out of wicker, or bamboo. I'm not really sure. I must admit that I am NEVER going to use this thing to beat a rug (my vacuum works just fine for that), but i think it would make interesting wall decor. It looks small, in the picture, but it's about four feet long.  It was a fun and interesting purchase for a couple of dollars!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 78

Vintage Aluminum Cake Carrier

This piece is soooooo retro! It is an aluminum cake carrier made by Weibro. It is showing some signs of age but is usable. It would make a fun display piece too.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 77

Vintage Mouse Cookie Jar

I think this cookie jar is beyond adorable! Unfortunately, it has several chips, the worst of which is inside, around the rim. Due to the chips, it's not really worth anything. I still had to have it. I'm going to send it to my Great Aunt, because we send mouse items back & forth as a joke. I think she will enjoy it!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 76

Marvin The Martian Candy Hander

This is a fancy Pez dispenser featuring MARVIN THE MARTIAN!!!! I love him and all of his alien cuteness! Anyway... You press the button and it works. He has a little shovel in his hand, and his arm moves to scoop the Pez.

365 Days of Junk - Day 75

Wood Napkin Holder

I'm not sure, but I think this may be made out of teak. I would say it's mid century modern because i think it has that kind of look to it, but I think it was made in the 80's. I guess it also looks kind of Danish Modern?

My favorite thing about it, is that is was made here in Atlanta, The marking on the bottom reads: Fairwind Ind., Inc. Atlanta Georgia.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 74

Vintage Wood Trivets

Here is a pair of matching trivets or hot pads, to rest hot pans and dishes on. These are flower shaped and made of wood. I think the flower detail, in the middle, is brass inlay. I like the retro feel of these!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 73

Heart Shaped Trinket Box

For the love of trinket boxes! This is a small (about the size of the palm of your hand) heart shaped trinket box with flowers painted on it. I am giving this one to my daughter because she love to play with a similar trinket box that belongs to me. Now, she can mess with her own stuff!

365 Days of Junk - Day 72

Metal Storage Tin

I'm a big fan of trinket boxes, tins, and unique storage containers. I think it goes with the territory. When you buy so much stuff, you want a way to contain it. I fail miserable at this, by the way. This little tin was so pretty that I just couldn't resist.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 71

Vintage Tea Kettle

I'm a little tea kettle, short and round! Corny, yes?

Anyway... This is a vintage tea kettle or tea pot. I guess it's made of aluminum and I suspect the handle is Bakelite, but I'm not 100% sure. I bought it because of the cuteness factor.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 70

Rooster Trays

This is a pair of metal trays with a rooster design on them. I love the mid century look these have to them! I also love the colors!

365 Days of Junk - Day 69

Talking Donald Trump

Talk about junk!!!!! It's a talking Donald Trump doll, still in the box. Sooooo obnoxious!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 68

Hartman Luggage

I found this set of Hartman Luggage at a Goodwill store, for a STEAL. I got all three pieces for less than $20. I don't know much about this pattern (if you call it a pattern). I am used to seeing the traditional khaki Hartman Luggage. These pieces are kind of a blueish gray tweed, with the brown leather trim. It's not in perfect condition, it does had some scuffs and nicks in the leather. Overall, I would say it's in good used condition. From a distance, it looks nearly brand new. Totally worth what I paid for it. Now, the challenge is what to do with it!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 67

Needlepoint Pillow - Black Labrador

I remember when my father had a black lab named Rico. He was beautiful. Labs are such great dogs. We have a black lab mix, Zoe. She is great too (except for the barking & hunting).

Anyway, this pillow is a realistic image of a black Labrador don in needlepoint. It's hard to tell in the picture but it has green cording for trim and green velvet backing. I almost always buy needlepoint pillow when I see them (depending on the price, of course).

365 Days Of Junk - Day 66

Coffee Grinder

This thing is a wood & metal coffee grinder. The grinder part sits on the wooden box. There is a drawer that pull out to get the ground coffee. I've never used one of these, so I'm not sure how functional it is. It seems to me that it's more of a decorative piece.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 65

Oval Metal Tray

This is an oval shaped metal tray, with little round feet. I suspect that it's actually silver plated, but I couldn't find any markings. I think it would be nice on a tab;e in an entryway, to put your keys & stuff on when you come home. Fancy! It's probably meant to serve tea, but who does that anymore?

365 Days Of Junk - Day 64

Brass Kindling Holder

The brass kindling holder would be great to hold magazines or maybe even dog toys. I really like that it has feet!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 63

Red Hibiscus Tray

I love the red hibiscus on this serving tray! The back of the tray is also the same red color. This piece reminds me of summer.

I going to tell you a really disgusting story about this tray... I saw it from a distance in a thrift store. I ran over, picked it up, and started inspecting it. I thought there was a flaw or damage to the surface, like maybe some bubbles in the clear coat. It turn out that someone had spit on it! And... I touched it!!!!!! It grosses me out just to think about it now. YUCK!!!! Anyway, I doused my hands and the tray with hand sanitizer. (Every woman keeps a small bottler in her purse, right?) Then I brought it home and cleaned it thoroughly. People can be soooooo nasty, especially when they think no one is looking. (hello nose picking while driving!)

365 Days Of Junk - Day 62

White Wall Sconce

What do you call a candle holder than hangs on the wall????? It's a wall sconce, right? Anyway, this is one of those things. It is made of metal and wood. I painted it white and then left it outside to make it rust. I love weathered and worn items.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 61

Handmade Broom

This is a handmade broom. It is really quite nice, but when I bought it, all I could think about was Harry Potter's Nimbus 2000!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 60

Wire Form

I'm not really sure what to call this thing! A wire basket/form???????I'm not 100% sure what it is or what to call it, but I really like the shape. I sprayed it white once I got it home. I think it has a shabby chic vibe!

365 Days of Junk - Day 59

Shabby Chic End Table

I only paid a few dollars for this table. It was kind os rustic and not in great shape (a bit wobbly). I tightened it up, added some white paint, and sanded it a bit. I think it makes a cute shabby chic little table! (I totally need to take before pictures, so I can show a before and after.)

365 Days Of Junk - Day 58

Woven Brass Baskets

These are woven brass baskets. There is a larger one and a smaller one.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 57

Primitive Wooden Drawer

This is a primitive wooden drawer that is divided into sections. I think it would be nice hung on the wall to display small items.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 56

Blue Paris Canister

I just love the powdery blue color of this canister!

365 Days of Junk - Day 55

Pyrex Juice Carafe

This is a Pyrex juice carafe with the yellow lemons on the side. It also still has the original yellow top. I think these are fun & colorful to use at breakfast time!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 54

Vintage Pyrex Butterprint Refrigerator Dish

This is a cute, vintage Pyrex refrigerator dish with the lid. I love the teal blue pattern with a rooster! I am pretty sure that this pattern is called Butterprint. I love that these were used in the days before we had plastic containers. They are so much prettier!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 53

Painted Cheese Box

This is a round wooden cheese box/crate with a basket of flowers painted on the top. It looks like it is begging to be a little lady's sewing box.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 52

Blue & White Floral Plates

This is a set of four decorative plates. I think they could be so pretty in the right kitchen. They are made in Portugal by Jay Wilfred for Andrea Sadek.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 51

Pressed Butterfly Baskets

Groovy! I think these are probably from the 70's, baby! There are two baskets, one larger & one smaller, with butterflies pressed under the glass in the middle. The baskets are just a few inches high and the have handles. I think they could be hung as wall decor, used to store things, or even used to serve stuff.

Thoughts and Prayers for Boston

I though I would take a break from catching up on my 365 Days Of Junk to send thoughts, love and prayers to Boston. Another act of senseless violence. It is such a shame.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 50

Round Wood Trinket Box

This is a round, wooden trinket box with inlay stripes. It also has little feet, but you can't really see those. I like that it has a masculine feel to it.
