365 Days Of Junk - Day 209

Double Wedding Ring Quilt Marked Arch Quilts

This is a pretty quilt, marked Arch Quilts, Hawthorne NY. I think the pattern is a double wedding ring. Am I correct? I am no quilt expert, but I certainly have an affinity for them. I think it takes such time, patience, and talent to create them! My creativity leans mostly towards painting (and cooking) because I like the instant gratification. I lack the patience and probably even the talent for fabric arts! Anyway, since I don't make quilts, I often buy them when I find them in thrift stores. This one was a good price, at less than $9, and it's a nice size. I think it fits a queen size bed.

Humongous Vintage Sectional Sofa

I wish I had better pictures to show you of this beast! This is something that I actually did not buy! Can you believe that I used some self control? In fairness, I probably would have bought it if I could have fit it into a Uhaul van easily. This is, honestly, the BIGGEST sectional sofa (or sofa of any kind) that I have EVER seen! Seriously! It had to be at least 20 feet long. It was HUGE. It was also upholstered in some seriously fuzzy velvet or velour. It was almost like monkey fur. On the back of one of the straight pieces, there was a tabletop that flipped up. It's a bit hard to tell, but it is kind of a sage green in color. I'm sure this sofa is vintage, but would you say it's from the 50's, 60's, or 70's??????? It also had a tag on it from an upholstery shop here in the ATL (I don't remember the name & I'm pretty sure it's no longer in business). So, that makes me wonder if it was custom made for someone's home.

Anyway, maybe you can tell that the picture was taken outside. The sofa was for sale at a local thrift store. This particular thrift store put it's used  furniture outside for people to see (they have a covered area). Considering the size of this thing, it was a steal priced around $140! It sold within about 5 days. I really wonder what happened to it. Where did the buyer put it? Did they have it reupholstered?

365 Days Of Junk - Day 207

Acme Supreme Juicerator

This is an Acme Supreme Juicerator model 6100. It's made by Waring, I think. I'm really not sure why I bought it. I guess I am intrigued by the idea of juicing, but I'm too cheap to pay retail for a juicer. I've had this thing for about a month and still haven't tried juicing anything. Anyone know of any great juice recipes? People juice kale, right?

Anyway, I found this in a Goodwill store for around $20. Maybe that's why I bought it!

365 Days of Junk - Day 206

Polo Bear

This is a Polo Bear with his original sweater! It is from 1993, I think. It's in great shape, other than being dirty. I did wash him and now he's all clean. His head turns and his arms & legs move. He is about a foot tall. I bought him for 99 cents!!!!!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 205

Vintage Fitz & Floyd Seashell Dish

More Fitz & Floyd!!!!! This is a scallop shaped dish. Not for food, but maybe a soap dish or to hold trinkets. It is a approximately the size of a saucer.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 204

Ballet Toe Shoes

There is something magical, to me, about ballet shoes. I especially like the toe shoes. It amazes me how ballerinas can dance on their toes! This is the only pair of ballet slippers that I have ever found in a thrift store. They are in great shape (like only been worn a couple of times). And... They were super cheap (like a couple of dollars cheap)!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 203

Parrington Designs Tennis Teapot

Since my last post was about a teapot, I thought I would stick with the teapot theme for another post. Although I don't love this teapot as much as the strawberry one, it is still very unique. This is a tennis themed teapot with a green chair, tennis racket, tennis bag &towel. The fun part is that the bag and towel are the lid for the teapot. Cute, right? This teapot is made by Richard Parrington Designs. I found it in a thrift store for under $10!

365 Days Of junk - Day 202

Fitz & Floyd Strawberry Teapot

I think this may be the cutest teapot EVER! I eyed it in a thrift store for about a week before I actually purchased it. I was in a glass case and, while it wasn't super expensive, I resisted asking them to take it out so could look at it more closely. When I flipped it over and saw FF, I had to buy it!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 201

Vintage Bible

This is "The Inspirational Bible with the Bible in Alphabet". The copyright on this one is 1947. That makes in fairly old, and it's in great condition. I often wonder about this history of these old Bibles, like where they came from and were they handed down in a family. I don't often buy religious books, but this one was only $1.01. I thought it needed to be rescued from a thrift store and given a good home!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 200

Bronzed Baby Shoe Bank

This is a bronzed baby shoe that has been turned into a bank. Does anyone else remember bronzed baby shoes? My baby shoes were never bronzed, but my mother's were. I always remember my mother's bronzed baby shoes sitting on top of a dresser in my grandparents house. That is perhaps the reason I had to purchase this one. I think I paid 99 cents for it!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 199

Flower Shaped Lazy Susan

This is a retro, flower-shaped lazy susan serving dish. It has a brass handle in the middle and the flower petals are little serving dishes or bowls. All of the little petal bowls detach from the lazy susan base. I love that it's a really deep shape of turquoise.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 198

Mid Century Modern Bowl

This is a mid century modern bowl that is kind of boomerang shaped & rests on a brass pedestal. It has an orange peel texture on the outside. Groovy right?

365 Days Of Junk - Day 197

Lighted Coors Beer Mirror

This is a lighted mirror or sign for Coors Beer. I think it's from the early 80's. Wouldn't this be perfect in a man cave?????? I found this thing in a local Goodwill Store for around $10!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 196

Carousel Gas Pump Gumball Machine

I think this may be the cutest gumball machine I have ever seen!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 195

Three Faces of Eve Porcelain Doll

This is the creepiest doll that I have ever seen seen! I think it is called the Three Faces of Eve Doll, but I'm not sure about that. It's arms and legs are mode of porcelain, with a fabric body. The head is the creepy part, It has 3 faces, so it looks like some kind of conjoined triplet situation. I am pretty sure it was supposed to have a hat that would cover 2 of the faces. You can use the hat to cover whichever faces you want, thereby choosing the baby's expression/mood. Of course, by the time I found it in a thrift store it didn't have it's hat and just looked SCARY! I guess it could be a great prop for Halloween.

365 Days Of Junk - Day 194

Vintage Everlast Boxing Gloves

Aren't these fantastic????? I was lucky enough to find 2 pair of vintage Everlast boxing gloves. They are leather and lace up. They remind me of something that Popeye would wear in the cartoon. Did you ever watch that? Oh... I think I paid $4 per pair of these in a junk store!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 193

Vintage Stiffel Floor Lamp

This is a vintage Stiffel floor lamp, with what I think is the original shade! Both the lamp and the shade are marked Stiffel. I guess you would say that the style if Hollywood Regency????? I found this lamp in a small thrift store for a steal. I think I paid either $10 or $12 for it!

365 Days Of Junk - Day 192

Vintage Amelia Earhart Train Case

For some reason, I LOVE LOVE LOVE vintage luggage, especially train cases. This is a yellow train case made by Amelia Earhart luggage. It is just adorable. Great shape and great color. It is also in great shape, with very little wear. I found it in a thrift store for less than $10.
