I got some Rain Boots!

I bought some rain boots!!!!! And... The best part... I bought them second hand!!!!! Have I mentioned how much I love thrift stores? I am obsessed!!!!!!

Now that I have the boots, I have to wear them. Right? Well, it has been a little rainy here, today. I am considering wearing them, but I am not sure if I can pull it off. I want to wear my rain boots and look fabulous doing it.

Kinda like this:

Or this:
Or with shorts:

I don't know if I'm going to muster enough courage to actually wear them. I'm afraid I will look like a dork! Maybe I will only wear them around the house, which is why it is so great that I bought them second hand. I got them for a song!

May 2012 Issue of Southern Living

Here is the May issue of Southern Living Magazine. I picked it up, from the store, to read last night.

Ha ha!

Why ha ha? Alex went to the Hawks game and I was home with Sassy. She hasn't been feeling her best and is snotting EVERYWHERE! Naturally, I thought she would go to bed easy peasy by 8:30. Of course, I WAS WRONG. It took me 2 HOURS to get my toddler to bed!!!!!! By the time she was asleep, it was 9:45 and I did not read my new Southern Living magazine.

Do you see this face????? This is the come-on-mom-do-you-really-think-you-are-going-to-get-a-night-off face. Cute isn't it? (I AM being serious about the cuteness, by the way.)

Back to the magazine... I did get to read it this morning and it has some great recipes and writing. You should check it out! There is also a photo featuring 2 paintings by Michelle Armas. She is a local Atlanta artist. I really like her work. She uses lots of bright, fun colors. I'm so happy to see her mentioned in Southern Living, it's great to see a local artist doing well!

That's all for now. Stay tuned.

A Fortune in a Cookie? Really?

This is the fortune from a fortune cookie that I opened, this morning. I will attract cultured and artistic people to my home? YES PLEASE!!!!!!

Here's the next one:

Versatility is one of my outstanding traits??????? I think that I would like for this to be true. And I think it may be true, it just depends on what they mean by versatility.

Are you wondering why I was opening fortune cookies this AM?

Well... We usually order Chinese takeout, once a week, from our favorite spot. We never eat the cookies, I don't think they taste very good. Since the fortune cookies are not eaten, they sit patiently in a pile until I decide to open them (in search of wisdom from the universe). So... These we the two that I got. Not too bad, right?

By the way, I do LOVE to cook. We do not eat takeout all the time.

Clown Car

I found this image doing a Google search for clown cars. Gotta Love Google!

I totally think I looked something like this while driving around last night. Sassy DOES NOT like to sleep. I was already sleep deprived from the night before, so i decided to take her for a drive to get her to fall asleep. Our bedtime routine generally involves either a stroll through our neighborhood (1.3 miles) or a drive.

As we were driving, she started fussing. I looked back and she was trying to hand me her bottle. I reached back to grab it, while driving 70 mph down the interstate. Of course, I dropped it! At this point, I am trying to reach behind the front seats, flapping my arm, searching for the bottle. Trying to find the bottle quickly is a MUST because I do not want it to leak in the car. Spoiled milk smell in the car = BAD BAD BAD!!!!!!! I am sure that the car swerved at least once during all of this. I am also sure that I looked ridiculous. AND... I broke my fingernail!!!!!

After I rescued the bottle, Sassy fell asleep, and the crying stopped... I had a chance to reflect on how silly I probably looked and felt. I felt like one of those CRAZED mothers who can't care for her child with the ease of Mary Poppins. I felt like one of those moms I thought I would never be! I have SO MUCH respect for all moms. It's  a tough job!!!!!!

Hump Day

So... It's Wednesday, also known as hump day. I think it is called hump day because after we get over the hump it is downhill to the weekend. Am I correct?

Anyway, to make the mid week hump a little easier here is a picture of Sammie (officially known as Sammie Davis Junior, Jr.):

He is hiding under the coffee/cocktail table in that one.

Here's another:

Because everyone should have a pug hanging out in a Pack & Play with a stuffed pug.

On another note, are the tables that you put in the middle of the living room/family room called coffee tables or are they called cocktail tables? I'm confused... We always referred to them as coffee tables but a couple of years ago I was told that they now call them cocktail tables. Cocktail table seems misleading to me, because it's not as if we are sitting around whatever kind of table this is sipping martinis. We have a 20 month old for goodness sake! The only thing that gets sipped around that table is milk and/or juice!!!!! That was random... Sorry. I'll go have another Cosmo, now.

Happy Hump Day!

Fabulous Totes

This fabulous tote is from Blue Q, and I love it.

And this one:
And this one:
And soooooo many more!!!!!!

I would definitely use these for grocery shopping, instead of getting plastic bags every time. I could also use one as a pool bag, and, and, and. You get the picture. These are a very hip/cool/awesome/fabulous way to go green!

Anyway, these fabulous totes and more are from Blue Q (as previously stated). They have some other great stuff too!  It's certainly worth checking out! I must tell you that I am not in any way affiliated with Blue Q (they don't know that I exist). I just saw the totes and thought I should share.

I should also mention that I did not find them on my own. I found them by stalking The Pioneer Woman. Not really stalking, exactly. I just read her blog and aspire to be her BFF. Only kidding (she doesn't know I exist, either). There is so much goodness on her site. Lots of great food, stories, and products.

Happy Monday!

Crayon Art??????

Have you guys seen the melted crayon art? This image is from Etsy and the piece is by artist Jessica Kerbawy. I'm wondering has this idea been overdone already? Is it fabulous? Just cute? Kitschy? Can melted crayons be considered fine art? I really kinda love the look and the idea, but can it be made unique and edgy? Also, does it matter where you hang it (will it melt if left in direct sunlight)? Does the brand of crayons used matter? Heat gun or hairdryer? Thoughts??????? Please.
