365 Days Of Junk - Day 346

Mainline By Hooker End Table

Here is a mid century modern end table or night stand. It was manufactured by Hooker Furniture as part of the Mainline collection. I bought it from a local thrift store for around $25. I love the funky retro look to it. I am, however, thinking about stripping it and refinishing it. It currently has that golden yellow finish. I would like even better if it had a nice light walnut finish. Thoughts?

Anyone know the best polyurethane to use, once a piece of furniture has been stripped and stained? By best, I mean the easiest to use and most durable. I want one that offers a good level of protection, once dry, but it easy to apply and dries quickly. Is that too much to ask for?
